A cyphelloid species forming highly gregarious cups, 0.2–1.5 mm diam., in a wispy subiculum (sometimes sparse or absent), with globose, hyaline, nonamyloid basidiospores (4.4–) 4.8–5.5 (–6.4) x (4.0–) 4.4–5.2 (–5.6) µm; the North American counterpart of Resupinatus poriaeformis, but with diagnostic ITS and LSU sequences (AY571062 and AY571025, respectively) differing from the European species.
    Holotype Lot 17 Concession 3, Eramosa Township, Wellington Co., Ontario, Canada, collected 8 September 1985 by R.G. Thorn, RGT 850908/01 (UWO).
